Well friends, we are now a family of four! I am happy to announce that we've added one more little fur baby to our gang!
Adopting a second dog is something that has been on our minds for a few months now, but never in a million years did we expect it to be an 8 week old puppy. We went to a softball tournament last weekend, saw this sweet face and fell in love. Any hesitations we had about going through the puppy stage all over again, especially when we had just come out of it, immediately faded, and before we knew it, we were bringing him home.
At just over 19 months, Zooey is still a bundle of puppy energy! She loves nothing more than to play, and since I work from home, there are plenty of days when I can't play with her as often as she would like me to. Hobson and I had discussed if a second dog would be more of a hassle or a help, but ultimately, it didn't come down to logic. As decisions like these often happen, our hearts made it for us.
The only worry I ever had about bringing another dog into our family was Zooey's reaction. To say she's spoiled would be an understatement. She is, in every way possible, our little girl, so the last thing I wanted was for her to feel replaced. But I'm happy to say, it's been three days and these two are already fast friends! We still have some routines to figure out, but so far, so good. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
Now, more about our little guy! He is a rescue, found on the side of a highway in West Virginia, wandering all by himself, and brought up here by the organization, PawSafe. As far as we know, he is about 8 weeks old and a Shepherd mix. We have our first vet appointment today, so we'll see what else we learn about our little man! He's a funny dude though, and makes us laugh a lot. People keep saying we're in for a reality check, but one look at his sweet face and all the 4am wake-up calls and loud puppy squeals are worth it. The part I'm most excited about is watching him and Zooey grow up together. It's already so fun, and we're only a few days in.
Thanks for finding us, Peeber! We already love you. We hope your name doesn't get you beat up at the dog park, but if it does, you can blame your dad. :)
Thank you to the many people who make up the PawSafe family for doing what you do and bringing our little guy to us!
