Loose Summer Style

It's been an extremely hot and humid week here in Connecticut. But I'm not complaining. That's what you get during summer in New England! And I've been waiting for summer for awhile so I will take this weather any day. Though there are times when the dry heat of the West sounds like paradise, there's something about summer in the Northeast that I wouldn't change for anything. The relieving thunderstorms that come around 5 o'clock, that last for an hour or so, then the cool, colorful sunset that follows, it's all "so summer" to me and it holds a special place in my heart.

On days like these when it's almost unbearably sticky, I can't bring myself to dress in anything tight-fitting. For 90 degree temperatures in New England humidity, I'm all about loose and flowing pieces. I purchased this Everlane top over the winter, mainly to layer under sweaters, but it's become a vital staple in my summer wardrobe so far. It looks put together and professional, yet its loose-fitting and breathable denim material make it perfect for hot weather.

When it comes to shorts, I'm fairly new to the "loose-fitting shorts that don't look like exercise clothes" department. I've had these floral ones for about a year now, and I've already worn them more this summer than last. They are the only pair I have like them though, so I'm definitely in the market for more!

What is your summer uniform for super hot days?

PS. Please excuse the wrinkles! I attribute it to the heat of the day. ;) Oh, New England summers. I know I would miss you if I ever left.
