Block Island Getaway
As I hinted here, this past weekend my mom, sister and I packed up for a last minute, overnight trip to Block Island. None of us had visited thus far this year, and we were in desperate need of our little slice of heaven. Since I was a little girl, at least a week of our summers was spent on Block Island, some we stayed in our own little house and others we spent on our boat. The three of us found it hard to go that long without visiting one of our favorite places, so we booked one of the last rooms available for Sunday night at a beautiful B&B called Avonlea. This adorable house sits right on the ocean, complete with a wrap-around porch decked out with rocking chairs, beautiful vintage style rooms and the most relaxing atmosphere I've ever encountered. We spent our Sunday on the beach soaking up rays, napping, reading and walking in the water. The rest of the trip was filled with wine drinking on the deck, a wonderful dinner on the porch of the National Hotel, shopping, our favorite froozie and falafel lunch, and more reading on the deck. We were sad to leave, but we always know our little island will be sitting waiting for us to return.
