This Is Us
The Safari Collective was born out of a desire to feel connected to the objects we surround ourselves with day in and day out. In today’s world of constant consumerism, we aim to be a more ethical option and conscious choice.
Our products are all handmade by American artisans using age-old practices. By learning the story behind the products we invest in, we are participating in smart buying, a practice that supports sustainable and ethical production and values the handmade.
For years, founder and curator, Sarah Lopes, searched high and low for items that were truly unique and supported the maker movement, and in the summer of 2014, The Safari Collective was born in the form of an online shop. In the spring of 2016, TSC expanded to a brick and mortar storefront in the New England town of New Milford, Connecticut.
We believe in the culture that small businesses bring to our society, in the beauty that makers and artisans create, and in the stories that dreamers have the power to tell.
Thank you for shopping small and buying better. We hope you find something you love here!
