Father's Day Weekend on Block Island
For my parent's anniversary gift (and Mother's Day and I guess Father's Day, too, ha!), my sister and I bought my lovely mom and dad a weekend out on their favorite little place in the whole wide world. As a family, we've been going out to Block Island since I was just a wee one. Sometimes taking our boat out for a week, sometimes renting a house. To put it simply, we're a family who loves being on the water. Being born in July, I think I was on a boat for the first time at just a few weeks old! My mom lives and breathes the ocean. My dad too, having owned his first boat at 17 years old, and having one ever since. Sea water is in our blood, to say the least. So naturally, a weekend out by the ocean was the best gift of all. There was just one stipulation with this one though. Amy and I invited ourselves along. What fabulous daughters we are. ;)
All in all, it was a beautiful weekend. After a terribly dreary and chilly week of New England weather, come Saturday morning, the skies cleared. The sunshine and sweet salty air never felt so good. New England at its finest, I tell you. I hate advertising what I like to call "my little island" to the world and urging you to go there, but it would be selfish of me not to. Block Island is a unique and wonderful little piece of paradise not to be missed.
