Giving the Gift of Time
What would be the best gift you could ever receive? What about the gift of time? Have you ever thought about what it would be like to have more time? I know many of us, myself included, sometimes wish for many more hours in a day. Life would definitely be different. Of course we cannot change that, but what we can do is give the gift of experience to our loved ones. I'm a firm believer in this. Now, I'm not saying I don't love giving and receiving things, too. Hey, I just purchased a new laptop last night and I'm over the moon! But since the moment Hobson and I started dating, I told him experiences are the most important thing to me. I'd rather spend a day checking off something on my bucket list than have "filler gifts" cluttering up my closet. Right? Anybody else with me?
Like I said, I've had this belief for a while, but a few days ago the lovely Jennifer reminded me of this over at her blog. Head on over and check out the article she wrote. It inspired me so much to write my own little post.
Whether giving a travel experience, big or small, a day at a museum, tickets to a baseball game, a cooking class with your dad, rock climbing with your brother, tickets to a Broadway show or a simple dinner out with your beloved grandmother, gifts of experience or time can be the most fun. Sooooo, if you're still stumped on what to give a loved one, take a moment to think about something they may have mentioned in the past they'd love to do one day. Can't think of anything? Well then, what do they love to do? What are their passions? Give that to them. I asked Hobson the other day to make a quick bucket list and give it to me to keep. Now I'll have it for years to come.
