Homemade Applesauce

homemade applesauce If your kitchen looks anything like our's, you have apples hidden in every nook and cranny. A quintessential autumn trip to the apple orchard left Hobson and I with far more apples than a doctor would say is good for you. This season though, we had two of these apple orchard outings. Double the apples. So yes, for the past two months, we've made an apple pie, an apple crisp, apple cinnamon pancakes on every lazy morning we have had, apples for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. Sometimes smothered with Nutella, sometimes peanut butter, and one time over a delicious pork dinner. I started seeking out recipes that would use more than one apple at a time. Don't get me wrong, I love apples, but I wanted to use some of these bad boys up before next fall rolled around. So the other day, I got down and dirty in the kitchen {okay, this is actually one of the simplest recipes ever, but for me, a kitchen novice, if that, this seemed down and dirty}. Using this recipe from this crazy awesome blogger, I used up... drumroll please... eight apples! I was proud. The outcome tastes better than any applesauce I've ever had. I can totally forsee myself remaking this recipe every time our kitchen runs out of applesauce. Roll up your sleeves and get cooking loves!

note - since I'm not a huge apple juice drinker, I substituted it with apple cider. I'm sure most of you have that on hand this time of year. xo
